Let me ease your Digital Crafting Guilt! It's NOT cheating!

Hi Everyone
As you can tell, today's post is about Digital Crafting: and for SU! that means My Digital Studio, (MDS)  When I bring up the chat on MDS at workshops, I find it's like Dr. Pepper. HUH? You either LOVE it or you HATE it!  And those who HATE it...well I find it is fear of the unknown...they feel safe with paper, and the computer is not their happy place! I GET that and UNDERSTAND that, as when SU! announced MDS, THAT was MY exact opinion too!  However, I was persuade to give MDS a shot, and I am the first to admit it, which I don't do often, I WAS WRONG!  The program is wonderful, and it really does have a place in my crafting world now.  And I want it to have a place in YOUR crafting world!
So far, I have made a 12x12 Calendar that I printed out 4 time! Can you say TIME SAVER! I only had to design ONE!  Plus, once your done using it as a calendar, you cut the pages off the coil and you have 12 scrapbook pages!!!  Double Deal!!! I printed one for myself, 1 for my parents,  and the other 2 I sent to Australia for Christmas presents to the in-laws.  TIME SAVER! And to top it off, they are SO professional! My In-laws did not believe I created it! They thought I sent it to a company and it was a "standard" calendar where you drop in pictures! NOPE, all ME!  I've also made a Work Calendar 8.5 x11; created an 8x8 Hard Cover Album, and have printed out about 10 12x12 Scrapbook pages, which look amazing in my scrapbook, and no one believes they are digital!
Ok, so you get it! I LOVE it!  And I want you to LOVE it too! On September 29 from 7-8pm at my house, I am going to show you why YOU are going to LOVE it too!  I will be doing a run through demonstration on my HUGE tv on the MDS while you sit back with a snack and learn how to use this awesome program!  I'll go through some of the basics as well as some of the tricks you can do while creating on the MDS.  You will also receive your choice of a 12x12 Digital  Christmas Scrapbook Layout for you to hybrid your own picture on, or a Digital Christmas Card; both pictured above.
Class fee is $5.50/person which includes your Digital project, with instructions emailed to you.
PS. Hybrid means to add "traditional" elements onto your Digital! ie ribbon, buttons, or in this case your picture!
PSS That is ONE card on the top; the left is the FRONT and the right is the INSIDE! Cool, eh! Plus all cards include an envelope!

Fabulous Fabric Flair Canvas

Hi Everyone
Well I just could not wait one second longer to post this! Sorry about the shadows, I really need to get a photo box to show case my projects better! Anyways...ta da! Here is my canvas I created yesterday! I used the same technique from the one I made back in June. See previous post for additional pictures.
I have had some requests from fellow demonstrators for a pdf file teaching them how to make my canvases, but I just didn't have time to create one then. But yesterday I found the time! I know there are a lot of wonderful Class Planner sites out there, but most are for card.  So I thought I would start designing some Class Planners for Scrapbooking.  These will be available shortly.  For now I will offer up my Fabulous Fabric Flair Canvas pdf .  All supplies are SU!, with the exception of some adhesives and the canvas. There will be THREE Options available to purchase:
Option #1 Personal Use
$5.50
You will receive a pdf file with step by step instructions for you to create your own gorgeous art work at home and to give away as gift! Christmas will be here before you know it!  Please do not share this file but direct your friends to my site to purchase their own.

Option #2 Demonstrator Class Planner
$10.50
This option is for Demonstrators and Scrapbook Instructors. Although it is based on SU! products, the techniques can obviously be transferred to any products. You will receive a pdf  plus a WORD file which you may change to personalize to your class.  You will be able to remove the pictures and add your own.  This way if you change the paper/products, your print out will match for your customers.  I will also include a Canadian break down of cost/person based on SU! products used.

Option #3: Sign Up for Class
October 8, 7-9pm
All materials supplied, just bring your 5x7 picture.  You will also leave with extra patterned paper from Love Letter and Newsprint DSP. Class Fee will be $51 for Club Members(in  one of my groups)

Twisted Sketches #64: Group Sign Ups!

Hi Everyone
Here is my take on today's Twisted Sketches Scrapping Sketch #64 with today's twist be "tree".  As you can see I used my photo for my "twist" as I'm zip lining through the rain forests of Barbados! So much fun!!!
I made my journal tag with the awesome stamp from the Notable Ornate stamp set and just cut it out; it only took a min and I just love the detail!  After I cut it out I used the Distressing essentials kit and roughed it up by sanding it and ink distressing it to make it look old.  It's hard to see in the picture, but it looks great IRL. If you click on the LO it will make it larger so you can see the details.
Supplies: All SU! unless stated otherwise
Paper: Love Letters DSP 117162, Riding Hood Red, Night of Navy (bird and swirl), Old Olive(hinges on picture) Very Vanilla (tag) Card Stock

Canada, eh!

Hi Everyone
I am very sad today for myself, and for Canada.  Tomorrow we are loosing the Ward family who are moving back down to the USA.  I am going to miss them sooo much.  Today's project is my going away gift to them.  It's a 12x12 scrapbook LO I made based on the Canadian flag.  I attached it to a canvas and staple gunned the ribbon the back to she can hang it easy in her new home. If you click on the picture it will make it larger to see the details.
Supplies/ Directions
1.I used Presto Patterns Specialty DSP for the main sheet & inked it up with a Brayer and Real Red Ink to make the pattern pop.  If you have not tried this DSP yet, why?? It is so fun! It comes all white, but when you ink it up and way you want, the patterns pop out! 6 patterns/pack.  The patterns won't hold the ink, just the background does! Cool, eh!
2.I snailed down Whisper White Organza ribbon along the edges of the red to cover the messy parts.
3. Using my old color wheel, I traced it as a template onto Real Red Textured C/S and cut out.
4.I used the Big Shot to cut out white leaves with the Leaves #2 Die.
5. Next, since I can not sew, I cheat! I used a stapler and made a box pleat in my 1 1/14" Basic Black Striped Grograin Ribbon.  Then I just tied a bow.
6. For my flower embellishment, I used the Big Shot and the Circle #2 Die and cut out some polyester, 2 layers, so 8 circles. I offset them with a brad, and used my Heat Tool to melt the fabric; then I placed a sticky back Rhinestone over the brad, and spritzed it with Smootch Silver Foil.  I must say I LOVE this flower and I'm going to  making one for my hair soon!
7. Then I just layer it all up and attached with a Tombow Glue and the ribbon with Sticky Strip.  Please don't use snail when attaching paper to be hung up on a canvas, it will not be strong enough and over time your project will fall.  Please used glue & or Sticky Strip. I finished the project up with some paper embellishments from My Mind's Eye and some Thickers.
Don't forget to take advantage of my WEEK LONG ON-LINE SALE! Click HERE for details.
Thanks for stopping by today...let me know you were here! Leave me a comment, I really love it when people leave comments, it really does make my day!

32 Km! DONE!

Hi Everyone
Well my journey for the Weekend to end Woman's Cancers ended yesterday.  I am so proud of the Cloud 9 Walkers for raising $15,214 for cancer research!  Thank you to all who supported me, and my fellow walkers! It was a very powerful, and emotional day.  One of our walkers, Hillary,(she's on the end right in each photo) is a cancer survivor; 1 year cancer free to the day of the walk! So it was a very emotional day for her and we were all so proud to walk ever step of the journey with her!  She is a very strong women with a lovely family who supported her with encourage meant and love the whole walk.  Every time we turned a corner, there they were cheering her on!  It was soo sweet and always brought a tear to our eyes!  It was like they just knew when she was getting tired and boom, there they were cheering for her! Hillary walked every KM and I couldn't be prouder of her!
Again thanks for the support

Grandma's Wall

Hi Everyone
Well today's LO I titled "Grandma's Wall" as that is what I was trying to make it look like; a grandma's brag wall of her grandson's.  The two cute boys are my brothers kids. It's hard to see on the picture, but I actually took an Old Olive marker and marked down wall paper lines, thought it was a cute little touch.  The DSP is Island Oasis 117173 $13.95 is from the current Holiday Mini which will retire the end of August, so don't miss out on this cute paper.  The Brads are the Antique Brads 117273 $7.50/20; I used them as the "nails" to hang the pictures and in the center of my Scallop Punch flower; I just accordioned two scallops together and place the brad in the center.  The Brights Designer Buttons 119747 $10.95/72 are around the flower with Linen thread, and the felt leaves are retired now.  Under the Rif Raf Bird Card which I spritzed with Log Cabin Smootch 119921 $6.25, is the cute bird from the Hostess Level 1 Set (FREE with $200 order/workshop) Punch Potpourri which matches perfectly with the Two Step Bird XL punch 117191 $23.95, I stamped him in Tempting Turquoise.  For the Frames, the bottom on is one I bought YEARS ago and I think its MME, but I only had one, so I made the other one with Naturals White C/S and stamper it with Woodgrain background stamp 117100 $21.95 with Soft Suede and Early Espresso; used the Soft Sued emarker to draw the lines, and distress with the Tea Stain ink for the Distressing Essentials Kit, then I just traced the whole in the center and cut out with my paper trimmer.  Lastly I stamped the 3 birds with Early Espresso from my fav set Notably Ornate 120561 $21.95 for clear.
Phew, I think that is everything...oh the rope I used to hang the pictures is retired, and the tag is MME(I think)
Thanks for stopping by and please don't forget to leave a comment to let me know you were here!

5 Cool boys

Hi Everyone
I LOVE these pictures I took of the 5 boys in our family: Brayden the youngest is my sisters; the twins are mine; and Liam & Julien are my brothers kids.  If you click on the LO, you'll be able to see the little details on this one; and the great picture of the boys!!!
QUESTION!!!! How do I shrink a video file??? I've made my tutorial, and my video camera is HD and we can not figure out how to shrink the file to upload it onto Youtube!!! ANY HELP would be gratefully appreciated!!!
Directions
This page is made with 2 sheets of pattered paper; the bottom is from the Patterns Designers Series Paper Stack Neutrals 117154 for $24.95/40 sheet (works out to 62cents/page!); and the number page is from the Play Date DSP 117168 $12.50.  I just cut in a pattern I liked out of the grid design; then I added some quick accents from the Play Date adhesive die cuts collection 117172 $10.95; these are all the colored cute squares and the borders on the pictures.  For the tag I inked up a baby wipe with re-inkers and stamped my mushrooms into it from the Funky Four Stamp set, 120438 $14.95 and the deer from Forest Friends 113748 $17.95 is stamped with Soft Suade.  Then I distress it with Tea Stain ink from the Distressing Essentials Kit 118762 $25.95 (LOVE this Kit). I finished it off with Chocolate Satin Ribbon.  The Buttons are tied with Linen Thread; a must for me, I just can't put a button down naked! LOL! And they are the Brights Button Collection; 72 buttons for $10.95, 119747.  The Number 5 was cut out with SU! Chipboard and the Big Shot with Alphabet Simple Numbers Die, 115968 $59.95 and inked up with Craft Real Red ink and UTE powder on top.  The other chipboard letters are unknown and I inked them with So Saffron Craft, and the foam letters are Thickers; I just highlighted them with a  Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen 105021, $5.25 (again a MUST have).
Thanks for stopping by today...please let me know you were here by leave me a comment!

Sketchy Thursday

Hi Everyone
I snuck a few hours to scrap on Friday; so I have at least one other LO that I'll post this week!  I'm really please with how they both turned out.  As I've been caught up with my photo's, I haven't had anything to scrap, but now that summer is here, I've got a whole bunch of pictures to scrap!  This one is of my family; my sister, Mom, Dad, brother and myself.  We all went camping together, with the 7 kids, 5 dogs..and 1 cat for Fathers Day week end, and it was great.  So while I was there, I made sure I took some picture of each individual family, and individuals of each child. We hardly have any pictures of the family, they are always of just the kids.  This one my eldest niece took for us.
Anyway..about the project...
I found another sketch challenge blog called Sketchy Thursday that I though I would play around with.  So this LO is based on that sketch; and as I was posting the link for this, I realize my LO is similar to one of their designers...this way by accident!  Clearly great minds think a like!
It's hard to see, but if you click on the picture to make it larger, you should be able to see the Smootch detail; I used a music bar mask and spritzed Log Cabin and Gold Glow Smootch to add some pretty detail to the cute paper. I also used the same Smootch to color up the pear chip board.   The colors I used are  Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard and Cajun Craze; which I pulled from the non-SU! paper, and it matched perfectly. I really like the new 1/2" stitched ribbon I used to make the sun rays; that is actually one of the things I love about SU! Everything is soo easy to co-ordinated together.I love buying the matching ribbon, paper and ink so I know that shades will match perfectly! Takes the guess work out of it and gives you more time to scrap!  I also used a scrap of my favorite new DSP, NEWSPRINT to make a cute tag by distressing and stamping with Baja Breeze and the the swallow from the Notable Ornate stamp set; which is right up on my top 5 favorites stamps!  And I just couldn't resist adding the cute owl again! He is just too stinking cute; sure you'll be seeing him a lot on my projects.
