SUPER EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE FINNABAIR JULY 2-3

CLASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR REGISTRATION FRIDAY MAY 9, 10AM IN STORE, PHONE WILL BE ANSWERED WHEN POSSIBLE AND ONLINE REGISTRATION*

My name is Anna Dabrowska, also known as Finnabair (pronounced Finavar). I was born in Warsaw, Poland, now I live in Ireland.

I'm a woman of many interests: a mixed media artist, scrapbooker and art journaler who loves new challenges, experiments and developing new techniques and skills. I've been creating since 2007, started scrapbooking in 2008-2009 and mixed-media in 2009 when I got totally addicted.
My projects are mostly media-based: I make paper and canvas layouts, collages and altered art, tags, journal pages – and many more. I believe in power of recycling and upcycling and just adore texture, paints of any kind and flea market supplies. Freedom, embracing creativity and being true to your inner voice is my main source of inspiration and creative energy.
I'm a full time designer and artist and as an experienced traveling teacher I offer a range of my own mixed media-based classes in collage, scrapbooking, art jouraling and more. I create as a freelance designer for scrapbooking magazines (from Russia, Sweden, USA, Great Britain, Germany and France) and international shops. I design projects, products and work with such international brands as Prima Marketing (design team member since 2011 and product designer since 2013), Sizzix UK (design team member since 2012) and 7 Dots Studio ( product designer since 2011).

  • ALL OF FINNABAIR'S CLASS WILL HAVE MULTIPLE PAINT SELCTIONS PUT OUT FOR YOU TO CUSTOMIZE TO YOUR TASTE: SO DO NOT WORRY ABOUT COLOUR SELCTION

Do you ant to create really artsy, dimensional and grungy collage, but you don’t have “suitable supplies?” That is not a problem! The most important thing in creative process is using imagination. We are surrounded by inspiring objects, which we can use for creating art of different kinds. Try to look around – and you’ll find real treasures in your own house! Remember there are no boundaries: you may give as much or as little elements as you want, you may use medias, paint and inks…and whatever comes to your mind too! Don’t be afraid to mix and blend and let your imagination free – it is pure fun!
During this workshop I will guide you to create your own mixed-media canvas, including my favorite set of embellishments and textures, colored with my favorite paints and mixed-media products. I’ll demonstrate possibilities of mixing different supplies such as gesso, gel medium, spray paint, scrapbooking embellishments and found objects to get layers, details and unique, grungy look on your project.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced students (really!) – let’s get our fingers dirty together!

Daydreamer – Mixed-media Collage Class on canvas. Selection of intriguing techniques based on  found objects or embellishments, texture, gels, black gesso, pigments and acrylic paints.

“Daydreamer” is mixed-media collage portrait on canvas created in my signature style: rich composition with deep, contrasting colours, light and shadow and finally  focusing on a touch of beautiful, metallic glazes. This class will take you for a journey through the range of intriguing and  versatile mixed-media techniques  such as heavy embellishing, using gel mediums, spraying and shimmering acrylic paints giving you a possibility of playing and experimenting in the inspiring creative process. This is not only the chance to try a bit different way of composing and organizing your project but also finding a way of using the supplies we all have somewhere close in our reach: in our studios, kitchens, garages, gardens... with the presented techniques all these options are possible...and there is a high chance you will never throw away a piece of plastic, metal or fabric away!
During this 4h long class I will share my experience in creating rich, multi-layered projects and help you create your own collage breaking the whole process into small, easy to follow steps. I'll explain the tools, paints and mediums we will be using and give tips how to get the best possible results.  We'll make our fingers dirty and get some creative wind in our hair together – there are no limits in creativity!

for advanced and beginning students.

Industrial Baroque

24 people Max

Paper Layout Classes based on mixed-media and scrapbooking techniques. Their common part is multi-layering, richness of techniques. using a wide range of mediums and loads of  elements to create one-of-a kind, personalized project. Grunge is a style, which is, in my opinion, the essence of creative fun and freedom: you can put almost everything on your project and be happy with the effect you got. You may give as much or as little elements as you want, you may use medias and inks… Grunge is usually considered as “boyish” or “men” style, but I'd like to convince you that it also as the more feminine, crazy, eclectic side – let's call it “industrial baroque”.
During classes I will try to convince you that creating a grungy, eclectic layout is not hard at all - and the only boundaries you have are those made by your imagination! I will make you look again at your embellishments and how you possibilities of using everyday objects as a part of your composition, giving them the uniqueness, personal touch and grungy style. I will show you finished projects and share my experiences from the creative process. On each class I will create with the students a full size layout including products from well known manufacturers and demonstrate possibilities of mixing different medias, scrapbooking supplies and found objects to get baroque look of your project.
"Industrial Baroque" is a perfect combination of fun, experiment and playing with composition, color and texture.
